The Friends of The High Line organization commissioned invitations from a pool of designers. The highlight that year was the opening of section 2 which featured an area of lawn with proposed rectangular concrete slabs. Three options were presented.
The first card design reveals a close-up swatch of grass in the inside spread with the event details in blocks of type set randomly to mimic the proposed concrete slabs. It has an elegant die-cut "2" (relating to section 2) on the front with grass showing through.
The second design is a series of 4 black and white prints meant as a gift to potential attendees. The extended marketing idea was to print a collection of 16 photographs from various stages of the development of the High Line and sell them online to generate revenue beyond the gala benefit.
The third card design is intended for 2 color letterpress.
